Department of English

History

The Department of English established in 1998-1999, concurrently with the establishment of the College. The Department was promoted to the main department status in 2010-2011. Since 2010, the English Department has been teaching UG B.A., English and language. Its history has been bolstered by the greatest standards of Rank holders, a total of 54. The Department received permanent affiliation status from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli in the year 2019-2020.

Postgraduate courses were introduced in 2013-2014 to meet the rising requirement of students to master the literature via language. Because the majority of the students are from rural areas and have limited communication skills and understanding of English, the department values and utilize a student-centered pedagogical style that will help them to achieve professional and career competence. We are always challenging our students who are on the outskirts of society to make a space for them by tackling their own challenges that are somehow related to the world. The staff at this school strives to assist pupils express their altruistic concerns by improving their communication abilities. As a result, the department attempts to meet the diverse linguistic demands of students at various academic levels by providing them with enough exposure to the language, allowing them to achieve language competence.
