Faith-based service and justice promotion are important components of education all over the world. We must train students to serve the country with zeal and dedication. The NSS movement began at Meenakshi Chandrasekaran College of Arts and Science in 1999. National Service Scheme (NSS) has a long history of undertaking various programmes to develop students' skills and instil a sense of social responsibility in students. On campus, the NSS has units. The goal of NSS is to help students develop through community service. The National Service Scheme's motto is "Not Me, But You." It aims to instil in volunteers a spirit of teamwork, service to the community in which they live and character development, which leads to the development of their personality. The college's NSS unit regularly conducts a variety of activities such as cleaning drives, AIDS awareness programmes, blood donation, commemorating important days such as World Environment Day, and so on. The college unit comprises of the teachers as the Programme Officers and the students as the registered volunteers. National Service Scheme, popularly known as NSS, was formally launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation. Our NSS unit as well as NSS Programme Officer has been awarded by Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli.
