Meenakshi Chandrasekaran College of Arts & Science (Women), Karambayam, Pattukottai is a well-known Arts and Science College for Women in the fertile Cauvery delta region of Tamil Nadu namely Karambayam, Pattukkottai. It has been at the forefront of women's education for the past 25 years and is celebrating its silver jubilee year. The Trustees of "Sri Meenakshi Chandrasekaran Pillai Educational Trust", who are residents of Pattukkottai, hail from a reputed M.S.Maniam Transport family with a hoary tradition. Urge in the trustees to provide a basis for imparting higher education, to the residents in and around Pattukkottai town has prompted them to establish "Meenakshi Chandrasekaran College of Arts and Science". The college was inaugurated on 19th June 1998 by Honorable Dr.P.Jagadesan, the Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. It started with a humble beginning with a quest to be the best in the field of education. It strives to impart quality education to all, especially to the poor and the underprivileged.
The college started functioning from the academic year 1998-1999 at Srinivasapuram, Pattukkottai with 4 Undergraduate programmes (Biochemistry, Computer Science, Microbiology and Commerce) with the strength of 126 students and 8 staff members. Then the college shifted to its new building with excellent infrastructure facilities, well-furnished classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and a library at Karambayam which is situated on the main road between Pattukkottai and Thanjavur. New programmes are introduced every year and at present, the college offers 10 Undergraduate and 6 Postgraduate programmes. The college also offers 03 M. Phil. and 01 Ph.D. programme for upgrading the rural women students to their Higher education level. Meenakshi Chandrasekaran College has been producing many gold medalists and University rank holders since its inception.
