Department of Mathematics

History

The Department of Mathematics was founded in 1998-1999 and the UG programme B.Sc., Mathematics introduced in the year 2002-2003. The postgraduate programme began in 2012-2013. The team of highly skilled faculty members hopes to establish a center of excellence in Mathematical Science and inter-disciplinary Mathematics. Students in mathematics will learn to investigate, hypothesis, and reason, as well as solve a range of issues. The Department received permanent affiliation status from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli in the year 2019-2020.

Opportunities for students with a good mathematical background are as diverse as they are many. Our courses prepare students for fascinating and gratifying careers in industry and education. Our mathematics education courses educate students to be exceptional teacher leaders with a strong understanding of mathematics and optimal teaching techniques. The department features a highly motivated staff with a wide range of specializations in mathematical sciences, allowing students to pursue advanced study and research in fundamental sciences as well as multidisciplinary fields of science. The Department of Mathematics consistently achieves excellent outcomes.

Objectives

To provide the students with the chance to strengthen their understanding of fundamental mathematical ideas. Strive for academic success as well as personal values. Write papers and complete projects to contribute to research. To prepare pupils to take eligibility exams.

Vision

The Department of Mathematics aspires to give better academic quality via the breadth of its teaching and research methodologies, as well as locally relevant through its participation in the growth of the community it serves.

Mission

The department will help students grow as mathematical thinkers, allowing them to become lifelong learners, advance in their chosen professions, and serve as productive citizens. Through an activity-based teaching and learning process, students will become technology-oriented mathematicians.
